How Time Works Here
There is no bell to tell you when learning starts.
Learning begins when curiosity does.
At Polly Gonzalez High School, days are structured around learning blocks, not periods. Each block is designed for a different kind of work, and learners move through them with intention and flexibility.
A Typical Learning Day (2036)
Morning Studio
Deep work time for projects, research, writing, building, or design
Quiet focus or small-group collaboration
Learners choose how they use this time based on their project goals
Community & Mentorship Block
Meetings with advisors, mentors, and project teams
Work with community partners on- or off-campus
Coaching, critique, and collaborative problem-solving
Open Lab + Exploration
Access to labs, studios, outdoor spaces, and media rooms
Skill-building workshops offered by educators and visiting experts
Time for iteration, experimentation, and learning new tools
Reflection + Portfolio Time
Journaling, documentation, and portfolio updates
Peer feedback and self-assessment
Preparation for exhibitions and public showcases
Restoration + Movement
Wellbeing, movement, creative breaks, and social connection
Because sustained learning requires care for the whole human
The order of these blocks may shift. Not every day looks the same. Learning is responsive, not rigid.
